Sony Ericsson has announced the LiveView – a Bluetooth-enabled, watch-sized device that can be used as a remote control for your mobile phone.
Sony Ericsson claims that the clip-on product can be used to view text messages, see incoming calls, see social status updates from friends on Facebook and Twitter, and control the music functions of a mobile phone without the user having to take the phone out of their bag or pocket.
The Sony Ericsson LiveView will go on sale later in 2010, and is compatible with a handful of Sony Ericsson Xperia mobile phones, together with other brands’ mobile phones running the Android 2.0 operating system or higher. UK pricing is yet to be announced.
Sony Ericsson claims that the wearable LiveView can be used to control a compatible mobile phone from a distance of around 10m, and that the battery should last around 4 days between charges.
The LiveView features a square 1.3-inch OLED screen and displays calendar reminders and the date and time.
