Toshiba update laptops for improved performance

Updates to three Toshiba laptops announced at CES

Toshiba Qosmio X500

Toshiba have upgraded the processor in the Qosmio X500 to improve performance.

The Toshiba Satellite A665, Satellite A660 and Qosmio X500 performance and gaming laptops have been kitted out with the latest Intel technology to provide users with improved performance.

Toshiba say that the addition of Intel’s second generation Core i7 processor in these models will ‘enable users to effortlessly create and experience content such as high definition video and 3D content as well as run power hungry applications’.

The Satellite A665 and Satellite A660 will each sport a super-speed USB 3.0 port for faster transfer of data between peripherals and external drives.

There’s the addition of Bluetooth 3.0 technology on the two Satellite models and the Qosmio X500 for faster data transfer between Bluetooth devices.

Gaming laptop

For gamers, Toshiba claim the Qosmio X500’s new software features make it ‘the perfect partner to any 3D TV’.

The Qosmio X500 also has an HDMI interface so it’s possible to play 3D content directly onto a 3D TV. It can also render 2D content in 3D when it’s played on Toshiba’s Video Player 3D software.

Which?’s experts have viewed hours of 3D content as part of TV testing – including 2D films converted into 3D. Which? TV expert Mike Briggs comments ‘Images converted from 2D to 3D by the TV have always failed to impress. For a decent 3D experience footage needs to be shot in 3D.’

The updated Satellite A660, Satellite A665 and Qosmio X500 will be available from the end of January 2011.
