Multiple sources have told the Wall Street Journal that the Apple iPad 2 will be officially announced next week, on Wednesday 2 March.
The iPad 2 has been subject to numerous rumours about its design, features and launch date.
Recent rumours had suggested it could be delayed until June.
The Wall Street Journal’s All Things Digital blog report does not indicate whether the iPad 2 will launch on 2 March as well, but Apple typically announces and launches its products simultaneously.
iPad 2 rumours
Industry analysts expect the iPad 2 to be thinner and lighter than the original iPad, and feature a faster, dual-core processor that’s better for multi-tasking (running several applications simultaneously).
Speculation that it would feature a very high resolution ‘retina’ display, like the iPhone 4, have been largely refuted.
