The Co-operative Bank has expanded its current account branch network from 97 to 342 branches

Co-operative Bank current account customers now have access to an extra 245 high street locations following a revamp of its Britannia branches.

Britannia branches will, from today, offer Co-operative Bank customers full access to everyday banking services, including paying in cash and cheques, withdrawing cash and making transfers to Co-operative credit cards and Britannia savings accounts.

The change more than trebles the number of available branches from 97 to 342 at a time when, according to the Campaign for Community Banking, 1,000 local communities have been left without a local bank branch.

Co-operative Bank scores well for customer satisfaction

The Co-operative Bank is a Which? Recommended Provider for current accounts, savings, credit cards and car insurance. Its current account scores a high customer satisfaction rating of 86%, leading to a 73% increase in the number of new accounts opened in the first half of this year.

Peter Marks, Co-operative Group chief executive, commented: ‘Supporting local communities goes to the heart of what The Co-operative stands for. At a time when other banks have been closing branches, we are offering hundreds more places for people to carry out day to day banking activities across the country. Our intention to grow our high street presence has never been stronger and we are striving to offer customers a real alternative choice in the current market.’
