Own brand goods could be much cheaper than named varieties – and you may not notice the difference between them

Tesco’s Value and Finest ranges have topped a poll of shoppers’ favourite supermarket own labels.

Shoppers were asked to name their favourite supermarket own-label products in a survey by marketing agency Haygarth.

Own-brands rated

Taste the Difference and Basic ranges from Sainsbury’s were ranked as shoppers’ second choice in the Haygarth poll.

Supermarket savings

While the survey found more people are choosing own-label products over brands, many said they ‘would never sacrifice’ certain names such as Heinz Baked Beans or Walkers Crisps.

However, supermarket own-label products often beat big brands in our taste tests.
