If eating more healthily was one of your New Year resolutions, we’ve found a great deal on a gadget that could make it easier to stick to.
Steamers are an easy way to cook rice, chicken, fish and vegetables without adding extra fat – and this week the Breville Digital Herbal Infusion Steamer is half price at Currys.
Steamers and healthy eating
As well as cutting extra fat, steaming keeps more of the vitamins and nutrients in food than other cooking methods such as boiling, where nutrients leach away into the water.
Multi-tier steamers can be used to cook full meals at once – but they can take up lots of storage space if steaming baskets don’t stack together.

Cheap Breville steamer
The Breville VTP068 Digital Herbal Infusion Steamer usually costs £70, but we’ve found it on sale for £35 at Currys. Standard home delivery is free or you can pick it up in store.
We recently tested this three basket model in our Which? lab.
Chicken took 18 minutes to cook and carrots took 12 minutes. This is quicker than average for the steamers we’ve tested.
The steamer has a ‘herb infusion filter’ you can use to add flavour to food, however you can add herbs to all steamers if you want to. The three baskets are a generous size, but aren’t dishwasher safe.
