Tesco is recalling its 1000W own-brand lawn mower after finding that these mowers can develop a fault – this has the potential to cause them to overheat and catch fire.
The lawn mower affected is the Tesco 1000W lawn mower, with model number ELM032012. You can tell if you have this model from the rating plate on the front of the machine.
What to do if you have one of these lawn mowers
Owners of the affected lawn mowers are urged to stop using them and return the mower to the Tesco store where it was purchased, or the nearest Tesco superstore or Tesco Extra branch for a full refund. No receipt is required.

Safely maintaining your lawn mower
Be sure to regularly look out for signs of wear and tear on your lawn mower. To stay safe when mowing, the main things to check are:
- frayed electric cord
- build up of grass clippings around the motor or air filters
- chipped or blunted blade
- loose or cracked plastic around the body of the mower
If you are worried that your corded electric lawn mower needs attention, contact the manufacturer or a qualified electrician.
