Three new Best Buy printers revealed in latest Which? tests

HP, Epson, Brother and Samsung printers on test

Man using inkjet printer

A new printer could cost you as little as £30 – not much to pay for the convenience of printing off maps, vouchers, emails and boarding passes whenever you need them. However, you could wind up paying lots more in ink.

We have test results for eight new printers, including inkjet and laser printers, and we’ve taken in to account the price of printing in our reviews. We found the cheapest printer to run producing prints for half of the price of the most expensive to run printer in our latest tests. Given the price of ink those costs can add up very quickly.

Our full in-depth printer reviews reveal everything you need to know before you buy, including how well the printers print, copy and scan, how fast they are and whether they produce cheap or pricey prints.

Best cheap printers on test?

We’ve tested three HP Deskjet printers. If you’re after a cheap printer these may catch your eye, with each model coming in at under £50.

The cheapest of the three, the HP Deskjet 1010,  just prints but for £2 more the similar HP Deskjet 1510 can also copy and scan. All three HP Deskjet printers on test turn out good-looking black text prints.

If you’re after an inkjet printer with more features you may be tempted by one of the printers on test from Epson’s Expression Premium range. All three Epson printers in our latest tests are wi-fi, all-in-one inkjet printers that can also be set up to automatically print double-sided pages. Colour graphics prints look good on each of these Epson printers and the cheapest model is priced at under £100.

Best colour laser printers?

Three Samsung colour laser printers have been through our tests and, as you’d expect from laser printers, they print black text pages quickly.

They all have wi-fi connectivity. While the addition of Near Field Communication (NFC),. which is available on some smartphones, makes printing from mobile devices even easier.

Our printer features and prices comparison tool can help you find the right printer for you with the features you need.
