Safety alert: Siemens tumble dryers

Some tumble dryers are a fire risk

Siemens tumble dryers that look like this are at risk of catching fire

Siemens has issued a safety notice warning that some of its older tumble dryers could be a fire hazard.

An electrical component on some Siemens tumble dryers that are around 12 years old may overheat, which could cause them to catch fire.

Only models that were manufactured in 2002 and which have a rectangular door (see picture, right) are affected.

Is my tumble dryer is affected?

If you think you might own an affected tumble dryer, contact Siemens’ call centre on 0800 0285 348. You will need to know your machine’s model and batch number, which can be found on the inside of the door and on the back of your tumble dryer (see picture, below).

Alternatively, you can see whether your appliance is at risk by checking here.

If your model is affected, Siemens has said it will carry out a free repair. In the meantime, the company recommends you only use the tumble dryer if you are able to supervise it.
