Which? tries out new Cybex Priam pushchair

New travel system buggy launches early next year

Cybex PriamThe Cybex Priam is a premium travel system pushchair

The Cybex Priam travel system is the first of a range of pushchairs that Cybex is launching in 2015 and will be its premium offering. Our experts have tried it out so that we can bring you our first impressions on whether it’s worth buying.

Cybex is a brand best-known for its car seats, but is attempting to join the ranks of luxury brands, such as Bugaboo and Silver Cross, with the Priam. With lots of customisable options, this pushchair is very versatile, but will set you back a minimum of £790 just for the chassis and a basic seat unit.

Our Which? pushchairs expert has assessed the Priam on its manoeuvrability and handling, seen how easy it is to fold and store as well as whether your baby or young child will find the seat comfortable.

To get our expert’s verdict you can read the first look review of the Cybex Priam pushchair, and compare it to other pushchairs from brands including iCandy, Bugaboo and Babystyle with our pushchair reviews.

Cybex Priam pushchair

The Priam has very distinctive styling and will appeal to some parents on looks alone. There are a lot of options when buying the Priam pushchair, for example, you can select from three different wheel types (light, trekking and all-terrain) depending on whether you will be using it in town or in the country.

You can then choose between a Lux seat unit (a fully lie-flat seat suitable from birth), a 2-in-1 Light seat, which can be turned into both a carrycot and a seat unit using the same frame, or a simple carrycot. There are even skis that you can use in place of the front wheels.

You can use any of Cybex’s child car seats on the chassis, including the brand new Cloud Q infant carrier, which can be reclined to a lie-flat position when being used on a pushchair by simply pulling a lever on the back. We haven’t tested this car seat yet, but will bring you results as soon as we can.

Which? pushchair testing

Over the years we’ve tested hundreds of pushchairs at our lab and have designed our test to reflect the things that most matter to you.

We look at safety as a matter of course, but we also look at key factors such as how well the pushchair works on different terrains, public transport and in tight spaces, as well as how comfortable the seat is for your child.

Every pushchair is assessed by a team of experts and a parent panel with their children, so you can be assured that if you choose a Best Buy pushchair, it will help make your life as a new parent stress free, not create more annoyances.
