Five models did so well in our tests we’ve named them Best Buys.

Head to our coffee machine reviews to find out which of the sub-£100 models made the grade, and how premium models fared.

Which cheap coffee machine came out on top?

At just £45, espresso machine Wilko Espresso Maker 328535 is among the cheapest coffee machines we’ve tested. It’s a compact model that makes espresso using ground coffee and has a steam pipe for frothing milk for a cappuccino or latte.

If you’re looking for an affordable machine that requires the minimum amount of effort, Tassimo machine Bosch Tassimo Charmy TAS5542GB may appeal – it can make a wide range of hot drinks at the touch of a button.

We’ve also tested two other capsule machines costing less than £100 – the Y1.1 Touch from Francis Francis and Nescafe’s Dolce Gusto Oblo.

One of these four affordable models did so well it earned a score of 85% in our tests, matching our other top scoring coffee machines.

At the opposite end of the scale, the DeLonghi ECAM Eletta Plus 44.620.S is a fully automatic model that will deliver a cup of espresso using freshly ground beans. But more than that, it’s the first model on the market to include a flat white setting. It’ll set you back £500 though, so our test results reveal whether it’s worth it.
