Latest Which? tests uncover Don’t Buy dishwasher

Three other dishwashers named Best Buys

Integrated dishwasher

An integrated dishwasher may appeal if you have a built-in kitchen.

The results of our latest dishwasher group test are in – and while half of the models tested excelled in our tough cleaning tests, one model does such a poor job of cleaning we’ve named it a Don’t Buy dishwasher we recommend you avoid.

The models on test included dishwashers for all budgets, with prices ranging from £270 to £799. But regardless of how much you have to spend, you’ll want to be sure your money isn’t going to waste.

Find out which three dishwashers excelled – and which one to steer clear of – by heading straight to our dishwasher reviews.

A dishwasher to avoid

One of the models tested doesn’t only leave a lot of watermarks on glassware and cutlery, it leaves bits of food stuck on your dishes too. In fact, we were so disappointed with its cleaning power we awarded it just two stars. It’s also one of the least user-friendly dishwashers that has been through the Which? test lab – it’s both awkward to load and confusing to program.

To add insult to injury, this machine is 10% more expensive to run than the average dishwasher.

Integrated dishwashers

Four of the latest models tested are integrated models designed to be incorporated in a built-in kitchen. Fully integrated dishwashers are hidden entirely by a cabinet door – their control panel is found on the top edge of the door.

Semi-integrated models have a control panel that sits on the top front of the door. Each type has it’s advantages – fully integrated models will appeal to those who want a streamlined kitchen, while semi-integrated will suit those who’d like a visible display or count-down timer. Integrated dishwashers tend to cost more than freestanding models, but we’ve found Best Buys costing as little as £229. The semi-integrated model in this batch is a Miele model – find out how it compares to others using our Miele dishwasher reviews.

If you’re on the hunt for an built-in dishwasher, choose one of those that we recommend in Best Buy integrated dishwashers.
