Branded cleaning products can cost twice as much as supermarket own-brand versions. So to help save you money, we’re tracking supermarket prices on Best Buy brands to reveal the deals worth stocking up on.
Best Buy products are the cream of the crop, as revealed by our tough lab tests. So you know you’re choosing the right product for the job when you buy one.
We’ve revealed nearly 30 Best Buy everyday products in the last year, including washing powders, dishwasher tablets and batteries. And 12 of these are from big brands.
But brands can be expensive – a branded liquid laundry capsule can cost two and a half times the amount per wash of a supermarket own-brand. Which is why we’re scouring supermarket prices each week, so you’ll know where you can pick up the best deals.
To see the top five best deals on everyday essentials each week, head straight to our Best Buy supermarket offers.
Find the best supermarket offers
Our misleading pricing campaign found that retailer pricing tactics can mislead shoppers by exaggerating discounts. For example, when a product marked ‘half price’ has been sold at ‘full price’ for only a few weeks.
So to make sure we only show you the offers that really are the best, we calculate the average price of the product, across all major supermarkets, over the last year. We then compare it with the offer price. This means we can reveal how much of a saving you’re really making, so you won’t be taken in by any misleading marketing tricks and will know you’re getting a genuine deal.
We’ve found recent deals on dishwasher tablets where you can save nearly 60%, compared with the average price over the last year. We’re working with supermarket price comparison website mysupermarket.co.uk to show only offers where you’ll save at least 20%.
Clean up with Which? Best Buys
In the last year, we’ve tested over 120 cleaning products and batteries to find the very best – and warn you which ones to avoid.
Our lab tests are independent and put products through the most difficult tasks they’re likely to face when you use them. Our washing-up liquid tests challenge products to remove tough grease, so you know whether you’ll be scrubbing and scraping your pans in frustration after roasting potatoes or meat.
Washing powders and liquid capsules are pitted against common spills and stains, such as red wine, mud, blood and oil. You an use our results to find out how good they are at stain-busting, plus whether they will keep your whites bright.
