Don’t Buy fridge freezer uncovered by Which?

But was it a Beko, Miele or Indesit that failed?

The best fridge freezers will help keep your fruit and vegetables fresh for longer.

Looking for a new fridge freezer? We’ve just tested six models, including a large American-style Beko fridge freezer and a pricey built-in from Miele.

One model is so bad we had to label it a Don’t Buy. Why? The temperature in the fridge is unstable and it’s slow to chill, giving harmful bacteria more time to thrive and spoil your food. It only scored 38%, making it one of the worst fridge freezers we’ve ever tested.

Make sure you don’t pick up this dud by accident by going to our full list of Best Buy fridge freezers.

Should you buy an American fridge freezer?

American-style fridge freezers are wide enough to have the fridge and freezer sitting side-by-side. They give you loads of storage space and can look great, but the downside is they’re expensive.

At £530, the Beko ASL141W is one of the cheapest American-style fridge freezers we’ve seen. Even for the biggest families there’s plenty of space in the fridge and the freezer, and it comes in a range of colours. But can it cool and freeze quickly and efficiently, or is the price too good to be true? Read our Beko ASL141W review to find out.

Fantastic new fridge

We also just tested four fridges from leading brands, including AEG and John Lewis.

One model sailed though our tests. It’s one of the fastest chillers we’ve ever reviewed, should help your food stay fresher for longer, and it’s cheap to run as well. The fridge earned a total score of 79%, and we didn’t hesitate to make it a Which? Best Buy.

So if you’re looking for a fridge without the freezer, we might have found the perfect solution.
