Apple iPad 10.2″ 32GB WiFi [2019] – was £349, now £299 (14% off)

We liked: Fantastic screen and great speakers
We didn’t like: Mediocre battery life

This is the latest iPad from Apple and is a good big screen choice. It’s fast and smooth to use but we found it heavy and were disappointed with the battery life.

Read our Apple iPad 10.2″ 32GB Wifi (2019) review, or buy it now at John Lewis.

Dualit Domus kettle – was £100, now £70 (30% off)

Dualit Domus kettle

We liked: Fast boiling and energy efficient
We didn’t like: Poor limescale filter and hard to clean

The design of this kettle is striking and it’s quick to boil and energy efficient. With a 1.5 litre capacity and a stainless steel body, it is easy to use but can be tricky to clean.

Read our Dualit Domus kettle review, or buy it now at John Lewis.

Dualit Domus 2-Slice toaster – was £89, now £70 (21% off)

Dualit Domas

We liked: Fits lots of different-sized slices
We didn’t like: Not easy to clean

This is a truly excellent toaster. It makes even, golden brown toast every time, although it does struggle with breadmaker slices.

Read our Dualit Domus 2-Slice toaster review, or buy it now at John Lewis.

Nest Hello Video Doorbell – was £229, now £149 (35% off)

Google Nest Hello Video Doorbell

We liked: Smart functions including facial recognition
We didn’t like: Almost certainly requires professional installation

The Nest Hello Video Doorbell is one of the most popular on the market. Its facial recognition technology allows you not just to see that there’s someone at the door – but to know who it is. The video is also remarkably sharp and clear.

When we first looked at this doorbell we thought it was on the expensive side, so £80 off is a good deal.

Ring Video Doorbell 2  – was £180, now £120 (33% off)

Ring Video Doorbell 2

We liked: Easy set up and clear video footage
We didn’t like: Have to buy a chime separately

This smart doorbell is from one of the most popular video doorbell brands.

You don’t need a professional to install it and it offers 1080HD wide-angle video, night vision and two-way audio. But you’ll need to buy a subscription if you want to view past events, save or share videos.

Emma mattresses – 40% off

The Emma Original mattressWe like: Emma mattresses are well rated by Which? members for comfort and value
We didn’t like: Not much!

These bed-in-a-box foam mattresses come vacuum packed. The Emma Original is supportive of your spine and very durable.

Both the Emma mattresses we’ve tested did remarkably well in our labs, and Which? members rate the brand well as a whole.

Asus ZenBook 14 UX433FA – was £999, now £749 (25% off)

We liked: Its fast performance and good screen
We didn’t like: Poor speakers

This Ultrabook is thin, light and has a speedy processor and SSD on board. While it doesn’t boast the latest generation of processors, it’s still fast enough for intensive multi-tasking. There’s even an innovative virtual numberpad.

OnePlus 7 Pro – was £675, now £575 (15% off)

OnePlus 7 Pro mobile phone

We liked: The battery life – it’s exceptional
We didn’t like: No wireless charging and no micro-SD card slot

The OnePlus 7 Pro is a premium smartphone without the premium price tag, and it’s full of innovative features. It’s huge, too, with a massive 6.67-inch high-resolution display.

OnePlus has aimed to compete at the top end of the market with this model, which comes bursting with high-end features including a triple-array of rear cameras.

John Lewis is offering £100 off the price off this luxury phone, making it even more budget-friendly – although it’s not the only retailer with this offer. Amazon is also selling the 7 Pro (in Mirror Grey) at this price.

Sony KD55AG8BU 55-inch – was £1,799, now £1,299 (28% off)

We liked: Superb detail, good contrast control
We didn’t like: Fiddly to use, operating system not as good as rivals

This good-looking TV is one of Sony’s most advanced models for 2019. With its patented screen-vibrating audio technology and OLED display, all the building blocks are in place for an excellent TV.

It was extremely expensive at launch, but at £1,299 from John Lewis it’s now priced similarly to OLEDs from Panasonic and LG.

LG 65SM8600PLA 65-inch – was £999, now £899 (10% off)

We liked: Rich sound, easy to use
We didn’t like: Viewing angle is a bit narrow

With OLEDs ruling the roost in LG’s line-up, it can be tricky for high-end LCD models to stand out. The 65-inch 65SM8600PLA certainly looks the part and has a slew of advanced tech built in too. At launch this behemoth cost £1,599 and sat at just over £1,000 for a while. Now you can buy it from John Lewis for £899.

Miele WDD035 washing machine – was £799, now £679 (15% off)

Miele WDD035 freestanding washing machine with clothes inside

We liked: Easy to use and not too noisy
We didn’t like: Uses more electricity than others

The Miele WDD035 freestanding washing machine has hexagonal drum indentations to protect your clothes while they’re being washed, and sensors that know exactly how much water and energy to use, which should make it efficient for smaller loads.

Miele appliances often cost more than other brands, and the WDD035 is no exception –  though it does have a couple of unusual programs on the menu, including one to set waterproofing agents on to coats and outdoor wear.

It’s unusual to see a Miele in the Black Friday sales, and this one comes with a decent discount.

Read our full Miele WDD035 review, or buy it now at John Lewis (it’s no longer available to buy online but you can still find it in stores).

Sage Bambino Plus SES500BSS – was £269, now £229 (15% off)

Sage Bambino Plus coffee machine

This compact, ground coffee maker is packed full of features to keep the home barista happy. From low-pressure pre-infusion and digital temperature control for dispensing water at the correct temperature, to the automatic steam wand that allows you to produce micro-foam textured milk, it’s easy to make coffees exactly how you want them.

We found it fast and super-easy to use, although the cappuccinos it makes lack a bit of foaminess.

It was already well-priced at £269 (it’s usually available in most retailers for around £389), so this additional £40 off is a good deal.

We liked: It’s quick and can make two cups of coffee at the same time
We didn’t like: Can be a touch messy as the machine drips outside of the cup during extraction

Read our Sage Bambino Plus SES500BSS review, or buy it now at John Lewis (it’s no longer available to buy online but you can still find it in stores).

Dyson V8 Animal Complete Cordless Vacuum Cleaner – was £399, now £299 (25% off)

We liked: Easy to use and cleans effectively
We didn’t like: Short battery life when it’s on the most powerful setting

Dyson promises up to 40 minutes of cleaning time and an easy-to-use vac with plenty of cleaning power. However, we found the V8 Animal ran out of juice quite quickly when we used it on its most powerful setting.

That said, it’s got helpful battery-life indicators, quieter operation, plus a ‘hygienic dust-ejector’.

Read our full Dyson V8 Animal review, or buy it now at John Lewis (it’s no longer available to buy online but you can still find it in stores).

Canon Ixus 285 – was £169, now £129 (24% off)

Cano Ixus 285

We liked: Compact size and easy to use
We didn’t like: Lacks advanced controls

This is a perfect choice for the casual photographer and takes great pictures in all sorts of lighting conditions. It lacks more advanced features which may disappoint the more serious photography enthusiast though.

Read our Canon Ixus 285 review, or buy it now at John Lewis (it’s no longer available to buy online but you can still find it in stores).

Lavazza Idola – was £139, now £69 (50% off)

Lavazza Idola

We liked: Quick and easy to use
We didn’t like: Pods are pricier than other coffee types

This capsule coffee machine is designed with simplicity in mind. But while the regular espressos are nice and hot, longer espressos are a little on the cool side.

Read our Lavazza Idola review, or buy it now at John Lewis (it’s no longer available to buy online but you can still find it in stores) or the same price at Lakeland.

Other Lavazza coffee machines we’ve seen in the John Lewis Black Friday sales:

  • Lavazza Desea, a pod coffee machine with a built-in milk frother – now £99 at John Lewis (with a two-year guarantee) (this is no longer available online at John Lewis, but you can still find it in stores) and AO.com as well as Lavazza.
  • Lavazza Jolie & Milk, a pod coffee machine with an intergrated MilkEasy frother – now £65 (the cheapest we’ve seen). It’s now out of stock at John Lewis (and AO.com), but you can get it at Lakeland for the same price.

Apple iPhone XS – was £949, now £699 (26% off)

We liked: Brilliant camera
We didn’t like: Disappointing battery life

The XS isn’t Apple’s latest release, but it offers a glorious 5.8-inch notched OLED display and an upgraded engine compared with the previous iPhone X.

Upgrades aimed at boosting performance include replacing the A11 Bionic chip with the A12, and upping the Ram from 3GB to 4GB – a very respectable amount compared with the iPhone 6 which was released with one solitary gigabyte.

Read our full Apple iPhone XS review to find out if these enhancements make it worth a try. It’s currently out of stock online at John Lewis (although it is still available in some stores). However, you can get it for the same price at Amazon.

Blueair Sense+ air purifier – was £435, now £350 (20% off)

We liked: Great at eliminating pollen
We didn’t like: Noisy on the high setting

The Blueair Sense+ air purifier has a minimalist design plus invisible, motion-controlled sensors to match. It’s wi-fi enabled, meaning it can be controlled remotely with a couple of taps on your smartphone.

There are three fan speeds and there’s a child lock to prevent little fingers making unwanted changes to the settings.

When we originally reviewed this model, we felt it was overpriced. But with this discount (which we very rarely see for this product) it’s a lot easier to recommend.

Read our full Blueair Sense+ review. It’s currently out of stock at John Lewis online, with very limited stock available in-store.

Acer Swift 1 – was £399, now £349 (13% off)

We liked: Its thin and light design and good screen
We didn’t like: The poor speakers

This Acer is consistently one of the most popular laptops on which.co.uk. This £50 discount at John Lewis is legit, and represents a genuine saving on a laptop that varies from £399 all the way up to £479 depending on the time of year.

Read our full Acer Swift 1 review, it’s currently out of stock online with very few available in-store at John Lewis.
