Fitbit fitness tracker deals
Fitbit Luxe (included in a limited edition gift bundle) – £109.99
We like: Comfortable and lightweight
We don’t like: No in-built GPS
This Fitbit Luxe comes in a bundle package exclusively from John Lewis with a charging cable and extra strap band.
It has plenty of features, including menstrual tracking.
It doesn’t come with GPS built-in, but you can connect to your phone’s GPS. So you’ll need to take your phone out with you if you want it to track your running route.

Or buy now from John Lewis for £109.99 with a two-year guarantee.
Fitbit Charge 5 Fitness Tracker – £129
We like: Slim and lightweight
We don’t like: Can only track a limited range of activities in any detail
This fitness tracker has built-in GPS, allowing for phone-free route-tracking. It’s waterproof so you can keep it on your wrist while swimming.
The Fitbit Charge 5 is compatible with both Android and iOS, and also supports Fitbit Pay.

Or buy it now with £40 off at £129 and a two-year guarantee from Currys
Apple Watch SE GPS – £249 (plus £120 trade-in offer)
We like: Plenty of features
We don’t like: Short battery life
This Apple smartwatch doesn’t have the same features as the Series 6. But it’s still a high-end smartwatch, offering built-in GPS for phone-free route-tracking, automatic workout detection and much more. Be aware that you’ll need an iPhone to get it working as it should.
It also has a fall-detection feature which it can make a call to an emergency contact if you stumble while out running – though you definitely shouldn’t rely on this if you’re at risk (if so, consider a dedicated fall detector instead, which will be simpler to use and, crucially, won’t require you to have an iPhone).
Set-up is easy and it’s comfortable to wear.

Or buy now for £249 from John Lewis with a two-year guarantee. Plus, claim up to £120 back when you trade in your old Apple Watch.
Samsung smartwatch deals
Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 – £162
We like: Attractive-looking, plenty of smart and fitness features
We don’t like: Fewer features are available to iOS compare to Android users
This feature-packed watch comes in two sizes: 40mm for smaller wrists and 44mm for larger wrists. You can also buy versions with and without 4G. We’ve reviewed the 40mm version without 4G.
It’s waterproof to 50m, making it suitable for use in the pool.
It’s compatible with both iOS and Android, but Android users will get more features.

Garmin smartwatch deals
Garmin Forerunner 55 – £129.99
We like: Easy to use
We don’t like: No touchscreen – a con for some, a pro for others
The Garmin Forerunner 55 is aimed squarely at fitness devotees.
It’s waterproof for up to 50m, meaning it can be worn in the shower or while swimming. It also features different modes to track indoor and outdoor steps, plus training programs to help improve your fitness.
It offers fall detection (though don’t rely on this if you’re vulnerable – we see it more like an added bonus for people who are already fit and healthy).
It also has built-in GPS so you can leave your phone at home while running and it’ll still track your route.
It runs on Garmin OS and is compatible with Android 6.0 and iOS 12.0 or later.
Could this smartwatch be right for you? See our full Garmin Forerunner 55 review.
Or buy now in a choice of three colours for £129.99 (reduced from £179.99) from Amazon
Garmin Forerunner 745 GPS – £329
We like: Packed with features, impressive screen
We don’t like:
The Garmin Forerunner 745 has a 240 x 240 resolution screen and is compatible with iOS 12.0 or Android 6.0 or later, with a few more features available on Android compared to iOS. It supports a range of activities but it’s primarily aimed at runners (as is the whole Forerunner range) and has built-in GPS for phone-free running. £449.99 at launch, it’s currently discounted to £329 at Running Xpert.

How to recycle your old tech
How you dispose of old wearables depends entirely on whether or not they’re still usable. If your old smartwatch or fitness tracker is still in full working order and you just fancy an upgrade, you could consider giving it to a friend, donating it to charity or selling it through a tech-buying website such as CeX.
If it is no longer working and won’t be any good to anyone else, there are a few different ways you can recycle it. Some retailers, including Apple and Currys, will take your old tech in store and recycle it for you.
If you’d rather not use a retailer-specific scheme, visit recycle-more.co.uk for more details on how to best dispose of old tech in your local area.
