UK brand Mira makes every type of shower – mixer, digital, power and electric. It has a wide range of models, and tends to produce showers at the middle to premium end of the market.

Mira electric showers

Electric showers take water from your cold-water supply and heat it by passing the water over a built-in heating element, in the same way as a kettle. This type of shower is usually economical to run, but isn't always as powerful as traditional mixer models.

Mira makes a huge number of electric showers, including thermostatic models that are designed to maintain a steady temperature even if someone else uses the water supply at the same time.

Prices start at around £130 for Mira's Vie and Go ranges, and go up to more than £450 for the stylish Alero, Escape and Galena showers.

Every Mira shower uses the company's 'Clearscale technology', which Mira claims will cut limescale build-up by up to half. Several models also have phased shutdown – where cold water runs for a few moments after you've switched the shower off, to ensure there's no hot water in the system when the next person turns it on. Running cold water through the system will also help to reduce limescale.

Owners' ratings for Mira electric showers

To help you decide whether to choose a Mira electric shower, we've asked people who already own one to tell us about their experiences. We've used this feedback to generate a customer score for the brand, and also to calculate an overall reliability score based on how likely Mira electric showers are to break down.

Mira power showers

Although similar in appearance to electric showers, power showers operate in the same way as mixer showers by blending water from both your hot and cold supplies. Unlike electrics, they rely on a hot-water supply and use an integral pump to boost the water flow – making them ideal for houses which suffer from low water pressure.

Mira makes a far smaller range of power showers than it does electric models. Prices start at around £179 for the Vigour, and run to more than £400 for the Event XS. As with electric showers, thermostatic variants cost more.

Owners' ratings for Mira power showers

We've also surveyed Mira customers who own a power shower. We ask them to rate important factors such as build quality, value for money and stability of water temperature. You can use our results to find out whether you should install a Mira power shower in your home.

Mira mixer showers

Mixer showers take water from your hot and cold supplies and mix them to create the perfect temperature. They're ideal if you have lots of stored hot water and, if you have a high-pressure system, a mixer shower should give you a more powerful flow than an electric.

Mira's Agile range is its most affordable (costing from around £139), while the popular Excel models can cost more than £500. Alternatively, people with small bathrooms (or en suites) could look at the compact Minilite range.

All Mira mixer showers include the company's Mira Magni-flo technology, which Mira claims delivers up to three times more flow than other mixer showers.

Mira digital showers

Like mixer showers, digital showers take water from your hot and cold supplies, and mix them electronically to create your ideal temperature.

Mira offers digital models that come with one or two shower heads, as well as wireless options that enable you to turn on the shower from your bed.

You can even download the Mira Mode app, enabling you to control the shower through your smartphone or tablet. You can also personalise your shower settings (including setting a maximum temperature – ideal for those with young children).

All Mira digital showers come with a five-year guarantee.
