- Smoke alarm
- Battery only
- Optical smoke alarm
The Cavius 2001-033 smoke alarm is tiny at just 4cm in diameter, but it’s designed to do exactly the same job as larger alarms. It’s powered by a replaceable CR2 battery, the kind you might use in a camera, and it uses photo-electric sensors to tell you when there’s smoke in your home. It can't be linked to other alarms, so it won't be suitable for homes in Scotland when the law changes in February 2022. Based on the technology it uses to detect smoke, it would be best to place it in a bedroom, living room, hall or landing. It comes with a two-year warranty. But what’s this compact smoke alarm like at detecting smoke? To find out, we tested it. Read on for our verdict and fire test results for this Cavius battery-powered smoke alarm.
