- Ionisation smoke alarm
The Ei Electronics EI141RC mains-powered ionisation smoke alarm is designed to last for 10 years. It comes with a standard 9V battery as a back-up power supply so it will still operate during a power cut. It detects smoke by creating an electric current inside the alarm – when smoke enters, the alarm sounds. The manufacturer advises that this type of alarm is ideal for a bedroom. By buying the Ei168RC RadioLink base, you can link the EI141RC with other connected EI alarms in your home, so that when one sounds, they all sound. But is it any good at raising the alarm when smoke is in the air? To find out, we tested it. Read on for our full review.
