- Heat alarm
The Honeywell XH100 heat alarm comes with a sealed battery, which will work for the 10-year lifetime of the alarm. This means you won’t have to change the batteries every now and then. It’s designed to be fitted in a kitchen or a garage, places where traditional smoke alarms could be fooled into sounding by smoke from cooking or fumes from vehicles. And it comes with a large re-set button – so large, you can jab it with a broom to turn it off. It can be linked to other Honeywell X-series alarms making it suitable for homes in Scotland when the alarms law changes there in 2022. But how well does this Honeywell alarm detect rapid rises in heat, such as that you’d experience with a cooking fire? To find out, we tested it.
