This child car seat has passed the regulatory tests required by UN-Regulation 129 to be sold as an i-Size child car seat for children measuring 76cm to 105cm tall, which is 18 months to four years old. But in our own tests – which are conducted at higher speeds and involve greater forces than the standard requires – this seat scored poorly during the frontal-impact crash tests.

When we carried out a front-on crash test using the Q3 dummy (which represents a three-year-old child), the connection between the seat base and the back rest broke on the side nearest the vehicle door. This caused the dummy to move forward too much, and while still restrained, there would be a risk of the dummy hitting their head on the front seat.

The seriousness of the risk means we’ve automatically downgraded this car seat to a 0% Don’t Buy. This is despite it gaining a good result in our side-impact crash tests.

We feel our tests more accurately reflect what could happen in a real life crash.
