Which? responds to crackdown on confusing environmental claims and greenwashing
1 min read
Sue Davies, Which? Head of Consumer Protection Policy, said:
"Consumers want to make more sustainable choices so it is concerning that this can be jeopardised by companies greenwashing their advertisements or marketing through misleading or confusing terms. "Businesses must ensure they are complying with the law and put a stop to greenwashing so that people can trust the information they are given and make informed decisions. Otherwise, regulators must be prepared to take enforcement action to tackle this problem. "Regulators should also provide more specific definitions for commonly used claims such as 'eco' to help businesses know how they should use these terms and give consumers confidence that they are being used consistently."
