Which? comments on the news that Ofcom is fining BT £2.8m for failing its EE and Plusnet customers

1 min read

Rocio Concha, Which? Director of Policy and Advocacy, said:

"It's absolutely right that Ofcom is fining BT for not providing EE and Plusnet customers with clear contract information before they signed up - as some people will have been hit with pricey exit fees they never should have faced.

"Providers must give new customers clear information about their new contract and pricing upfront. Any customers who are out of contract and unhappy with their current provider could make significant savings by switching to a firm with better service.

"Ofcom should continue to take action against any telecoms firms that break the rules. The regulator must stick to its proposed timeline for implementing a ban on inflation-linked price hikes and fine any companies that do not implement these changes on time."
