Sue Davies, Which? Head of Food Policy and Consumer Rights, said: "Which? found the price of hundreds of everyday groceries had soared by over 20 per cent over the last two years, while supermarket own-brand budget ranges were becoming less widely available just as demand was likely to be increasing. "During an unrelenting cost of living crisis, consumers should be able to choose the best value product for them without worrying about whether their local store stocks budget ranges. "Which? is calling for supermarkets and manufacturers to be more up-front about costs and provide really clear unit pricing so people can easily compare items. Budget ranges should also be more widely available at all stores so consumers do not have to pay over the odds for everyday essentials." ENDS
