Which? comments on the news that the Floor Room has fallen into administration
Lisa Webb, Which? Consumer Law Expert, said:
"The news that the Floor Room has fallen into administration will be devastating for its employees, as well as a real concern for customers with orders placed - as exercising your rights is not always straightforward in these circumstances.
"It's encouraging to see John Lewis pledging to help and support those affected. We'd like to see John Lewis and the administrators working together to get clear information to concerned customers as quickly as possible - and hopefully some reassurance that they won't lose both their orders and their money.
"Customers may be able to recover their money if they used a credit card. For anyone who bought something on their credit card costing more than £100, the card provider is jointly responsible for any breaches of contract. Shoppers can claim under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act if the item is faulty or not delivered. If they paid for goods that cost less than £100 on a credit or debit card, they may be able to claim under chargeback."
