Which? comments on the news that the maker of Oreo is suing Aldi in the US over 'copycat' packaging

Reena Sewraz, Which? Retail Editor, said:

"Aldi sails close to the wind with products that mimic well-known brands, but these items are often much loved by their customers for their budget-friendly prices and great taste.

"Our taste tests have found that Aldi and other supermarkets' own-brand products often outperform more well-known brands. For example, Aldi's baked beans beat Heinz in our recent tests and its Nordpak Spreadable Slightly Salted scored higher than Lurpak.

"Aldi was also crowned our cheapest supermarket of the year in 2024 and has remained ahead of the pack on price in 2025. With people still feeling the effects of food inflation, it pays to shop around for the best deal on your weekly shop."
