Which? responds to disruptions at Edinburgh airport
Rory Boland, Editor of Which? Travel said:
“Travellers will rightfully feel frustrated by today's disruptions at Edinburgh airport and will be concerned about flight delays or possible cancellations.
"If your flight is cancelled or delayed, you're unlikely to be owed compensation by the airline as the technical issue is considered an 'extraordinary circumstance' and out of the airline's control. However, you do have a right to food or a hotel stay depending on the length of the delay but be sure you keep the receipts as you will need to claim this back from the airline.
“For passengers who have been diverted, the airline is responsible for getting you to your original destination and should cover these costs - people should not be left out of pocket. Contact the airline in the first instance but you can claim for onward travel if this proves impossible.
"If you are due to travel today or tomorrow, allow extra time for your journey and check the advice from your airport, tour operator, airline apps and airport social media feeds for the most up to date advice.”
