Which? responds to disruptions at Stansted airport

Naomi Leach, Deputy Editor of Which? Travel said: 

“Travellers will rightfully feel frustrated by today's disruptions at Stansted airport. Since the situation is outside of the airlines’ control, passengers will not be entitled to compensation for missed flights. However, it's worth travellers asking their airline if they can be put on a later flight free of charge.

“We have also seen cases where airports have refunded passengers - when missed flights are their responsibility. Affected passengers should fill in Stansted's online feedback form if they're left out of pocket. If that fails, then they should check their travel insurance to see if they can make a claim.

"If you are due to travel today or tomorrow, allow extra time for your journey and check the advice from your airport, tour operator, airline apps and airport social media feeds for the most up to date advice.”
