Which? responds to High Court ruling on Wikimedia's challenge to the Online Safety Act

Lisa Webb, Which? Consumer Law Expert, said:
“Ofcom should no longer delay and must categorise services as soon as possible so that the codes of practice on fraudulent advertising can be published.
“The current timetable for full implementation of Online Safety Act fraud rules means big tech firms will not be held accountable for scam ads on their sites until 2027. It is unacceptable that consumers are still being left at the mercy of ruthless fraudsters, so Ofcom must now move quickly to implement the necessary protections.
“For their part, tech firms should not be waiting for Ofcom. They should be acting now to block fraudsters and catch scams before they hit the platforms and reach users."
