Which? responds to latest BRC/Nielsen IQ Shop Price Index

Sue Davies, Which? Head of Food Policy, said:

"While it's good news to see food inflation slowing, it's still very high and pushing up supermarket prices that millions of people are struggling to afford, with many skipping meals entirely just to put food on the table for their family.

“More action is still urgently needed to support people to access more affordable food. Supermarkets can help their customers by stocking essential budget range items that will support a healthy diet in their smaller stores. Our research shows that budget range items tend to be much cheaper than own-brand and branded equivalents but are rarely found in convenience stores.”
