Rocio Concha, Which? Director of Policy and Advocacy said:

"Consumers have faced a lengthy and frustrating wait for a resolution to the car finance mis-selling scandal, so this marks a major milestone on the road to redress.

"Firms must now commit to following the process set out by the FCA and act swiftly to ensure customers receive the money they are rightfully owed.

"The FCA must stand ready to take further action in the event firms neglect their responsibilities to consumers."

Notes to editors:

The Financial Conduct Authority’s redress scheme will be free to use, so there is no need to pay a third party to make a claim. Anyone who does choose to use a claims firm or solicitor should make sure they are properly regulated and avoid firms that cold call or demand upfront fees.
