Which? responds to Ofcom's delays to the implementation of the Online Safety Act
1 min read
Rocio Concha, Which? Director of Policy and Advocacy, said:
"These delays are very concerning - Ofcom must categorise services as soon as possible so that the codes of practice on fraudulent advertising can be published.
"The current timetable for full implementation of the Online Safety Act fraud rules means big tech firms are still not being held fully accountable for scam ads on their sites. It is unacceptable that consumers are being left at the mercy of ruthless fraudsters, so Ofcom must ensure there are no further delays in implementing the necessary protections.
"For their part, tech firms should not be waiting for Ofcom. They should be acting now to block fraudsters on their platforms before they reach users.”
