Which? responds to reports that households face further hikes to their broadband and phone bills next year despite Ofcom's review

Rocio Concha, Which? Director of Policy and Advocacy, said:

"Reports that Ofcom's review will not conclude in time to affect telecoms mid-contract price rises next April are extremely disappointing - and questions need to be asked about why Ofcom took so long to investigate this issue.

"In April, many telecoms customers were hit with mid-contract price hikes of up to 17 per cent - leaving many trapped in contracts where either they had to accept these above inflation price hikes or pay exorbitant exit fees to leave the contract early.

"With or without Ofcom's review, providers must stop the practice of above inflation mid-contract hikes, especially where customers are hit with exit fees, to ensure customers are not trapped in this situation year after year."
