Which? responds to the CMA's second state of competition report
1 min read
Rocio Concha, Which? Director of Policy and Advocacy, said:
"The CMA's research shows that consumers are losing out to ineffective competition - with many markets dominated by a handful of powerful companies.
"During an unrelenting cost of living crisis, the CMA's finding that average markups have increased from just over 20 per cent in 2008 to about 35 per cent is particularly concerning.
"This report highlights the urgent need for the government to introduce a Consumer and Competition Bill in the Queen's Speech and give the Digital Markets Unit the powers it needs to promote effective competition and protect consumers in digital markets as soon as possible."
