Which? responds to the House of Lords Financial Services Regulation Committee’s consumer insurance regulation inquiry following super-complaint
Rocio Concha, Which? Director of Policy and Advocacy, said:
“Which?’s super-complaint exposed serious failings in the home and travel insurance markets, from poor claims handling to widespread consumer confusion over what policies actually cover.
“This announcement by the House of Lords Financial Services Regulation Committee is a direct result of the concerns Which? raised and shows they are now being taken seriously at the highest levels of parliamentary scrutiny.
“The evidence Which? found made it clear that consumers are being let down too often by providers, so it's right that insurers and the regulator will now face hard questions about why that is.
“We will continue to push for regulators and the government to take stronger action to ensure these markets work fairly for the millions of people who rely on home and travel insurance, and will continue to hold both to account to ensure that happens. “
