Natalie Hitchins, Which? Head of Home Products and Services, said: "The cost of living is spiralling which makes it crucial that those consumers most in need of support are able to access affordable broadband and phone deals. Social tariffs can really help vulnerable customers but given the shockingly low levels of awareness about their availability, it's good to see the regulator looking at ways in which providers can do more. "Although it's positive that Ofcom is consulting on updating this guide, providers need to take action now to support vulnerable customers, especially in light of the increased cost of living. "For those not eligible for a social tariff, it's worth shopping around or haggling for the best deal, particularly if you're out of contract. Which? research has found that haggling with your current provider or switching deals could save you hundreds of pounds a year." -ENDS-
