Which? warns consumers to be aware of gift card scams this Christmas
1 min read
Lisa Webb, Which? Consumer Law Expert, said:
"Fraudsters are always on the lookout for new ways to part people from their hard-earned cash and unfortunately, gift cards are no exception.
"If you receive a request from a 'friend' out of the blue asking to buy a gift card for them, treat it with caution and call the person directly to see if it's really them. It's also important to treat any competitions offering free gift cards with caution and avoid sharing any personal information that could be used by scammers.
"If you or a loved one do fall victim to a scam then contact your bank immediately and report it to Action Fraud or Police Scotland.”
