Product recall: Jus-Rol and supermarket-brand raw pastry products may contain salmonella

A selection of pastry products from Jus-Rol and BakeAway have been recalled due to the possible presence of salmonella.

Previously on sale at various supermarkets including Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Tesco, the list of recalled products includes ready-to-roll pastry packages and pizza doughs.

Which products are being recalled?

Jus-Rol pastry product recall

The Jus-Rol products being recalled are:

• Jus-Rol Frozen Shortcrust Block 6 x 1kg, Best before September 2023 (shown below)
• Jus-Rol Frozen Shortcrust Pastry Block 6 x 500g, Best before September 2023
• Jus-Rol Chilled Puff Pastry Block 8 x 500g, Best before 31 January 2022
• Jus-Rol Frozen Ready Rolled Puff Pastry Sheets 6 x 640g, Best before July 2023

A statement on the brand's website claims no other Jus-Rol products are affected by this recall.

The BakeAway products being recalled are:

• Aldi Ready Roll Pizza 400g, use by 13 January 2022
• Asda Pizza Dough 400g, use by 15 January 2022
• Morrisons Puff Pastry Block 500g, use by 24 and 25 January 2022
• Morrisons Ready Roll Light Puff Pastry 375g, use by 17 January 2022
• Pizza Express Ready to Roll Dough 400g, use by 20 January 2022
• Pizza Express Pre-Rolled Dough 400g, use by 17 January 2022
• Tesco Finest Butter Enriched Ready Roll Puff Pastry, 320g, use by 14 January 2022
• Tesco Pizza Dough 400g, use by 17 January 2022
• Tesco Ready Roll Puff Pastry 375g, use by 24 and 25 January 2022
• Asda Ready Roll Light Puff Pastry 375g, use by 16 January 2022

A message on the Food Standards Agency website says that point-of-sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products.

What should I do if I'm affected?

Check the products you have in your fridge or freezer and, if the product matches one of those listed above, you should be eligible for a refund.

Jus-Rol has asked customers to check and dispose of the affected products and call the company directly for a refund. The number to call is 0800 125 577, which is open Monday-Friday 9am-6pm.

If you have bought any of the products covered by the BakeAway recall, return them to the store from which they were bought, for a full refund. You don't need to take your receipt.

Symptoms of food poisoning, which can be caused by salmonella, include feeling sick, diarrhoea, stomach cramps, a high temperature and sometimes vomiting.

If you do experience symptoms of food poisoning, the NHS website says you should drink lots of fluids, such as water or squash, to avoid dehydration.

What are my rights if there's a food recall?

If you've bought a product that's been recalled, you have the right to a refund through the Consumer Rights Act. The retailer that sold you the product should offer a full refund, even if it's been in your store cupboard or freezer for several months.

Even if you've already consumed or thrown away the product, you can still get a refund if you're able to show proof of purchase, such as a receipt, bank statement or online order confirmation.
