Which? responds to record installations of solar panels, batteries and heat pumps so far in 2025

Sue Davies, Which? Head of Consumer Rights Policy, said:

“It is positive to see a record number of solar panels, batteries and heat pumps installations in UK homes and buildings so far this year.

“Although we are seeing progress, our research has shown that high upfront costs and a lack of confidence in clean technology remain some of the biggest barriers to households installing clean technologies.

“In order to continue to meet its net zero goals and support the transition to heat pumps and solar panels, the government needs to make sure the upfront costs of these technologies are more affordable and that people have access to good quality independent advice and reliable installers.”
