Which? responds to reports of scam eco plugs sold on Amazon

Sue Davies, Which? Head of Consumer Protection Policy, said:

"It's shameful that these dangerous scam products, that online marketplaces have known about for years, are still being sold despite countless warnings.

"Just last month Amazon claimed to have finally managed to block them after a 'technical error' prevented them being flagged, yet we were still easily able to find over a dozen for sale.

"It's abundantly clear that online marketplaces are not taking customer safety seriously, despite their promises. The OPSS must urgently update product safety legislation with a clear legal duty on these platforms for ensuring the safety of products sold, along with tough enforcement, otherwise consumers will continue to be put at risk."
