Which? responds to the CCC's 2025 progress in reducing emissions report
Sue Davies, Which? Head of Consumer Rights and Food Policy, said:
“Which? research shows that most consumers support action to tackle climate change, but many are unaware of the most impactful changes they will need to make over the next few years. These include switching from petrol and diesel cars to electric vehicles and moving from gas boilers to heat pumps.
“The CCC is right to highlight the need for reduced electricity costs that enable consumers to make the switch to electrified heating and electric cars. This must be done without adding to energy bills for households that currently rely on gas and struggle with the high cost of everyday living.
“In order to support consumers navigating these complex and sometimes costly decisions, the government must ensure that consumers have access to good quality independent advice, reliable and accredited installers and a comprehensive EV charging network. The government must also make upfront costs more affordable to facilitate greener options for heating and transport.”
