Which? responds to tumble dryer safety concerns following a tragic house fire
Sue Davies, Which? Head of Consumer Protection Policy, said:
“Which? previously campaigned for a recall of more than 500,000 fire-risk Whirlpool tumble dryers, and the tragic deaths of Sohaib Ahmed and his daughter Manahal will raise concerns that history is repeating itself.
“The OPSS must act urgently to investigate this model and work with Hoover's parent company to make sure no family faces the risk of a fire because of a tumble dryer they have bought in good faith.
“If you own the Hoover tumble dryer DX C10DCER-80, it’s a good idea at this stage to monitor for updates from the Office for Product Safety and Standards website. The exact fault in this model is not yet known, so it’s safest to avoid using it if possible until more information is available.”
