Lindam Sure Shut Orto review

Product alert

The sample of this stair gate we tested failed a key safety test that checks whether a gate is strong enough to withstand repeated pushing and pulling over an extended period of time.

It became dislodged and could mean a child’s safety is at risk.

It’s why we’ve made this stair gate a 0% Don’t Buy.

Lindam told us:

Munchkin, the company that owns Lindam, told us that consumer safety is paramount to its values as a company and it is dedicated to providing safe, top-quality products. It says that the Lindam Sure Shut Orto complies with all applicable standards including EN1930.

Munchkin continuously monitors customer feedback and states that it has not encountered any complaints of the gate dislodging while in use. It will continue to monitor and audit its products to ensure they meet and/or exceed safety and customer expectations.

The Lindam Sure Shut Orto stair gate has a gravity-fed hinge, which ensures the gate will close behind you. According to the manufacturer, it will close automatically when shut from any position. However, we've given this stair gate a Don't Buy warning after the sample we tested failed a test in the EU safety standard. Read the full safety alert with this review for more information.
