When can I claim the state pension?
The state pension age is gradually rising from 66 to 67 between April 2026 and April 2028.
It is scheduled to rise again to 68 between 2044 and 2046, but this could be brought forward to as early as 2037.
The government has to give at least 10 years' notice of a change.

How do I claim the state pension?
If you live in the UK, you won't receive your state pension automatically when you reach state pension age.
You'll get a letter four months before you retire, which will explain how you can claim. You'll have the option to claim online, by phone or by post.
