Expert review

The third-generation Citroën C3 arrived on sale in 2017 with funky styling and lots of customisation options. • If you’re looking for a reliable new hatchback, you could do far worse than this Citroen C3. It received a brand-affirming five-out-of-five star reliability rating for 0-4-year-old models, with all but 8% of owners surveyed having a fault-free year prior to providing feedback. And only 1.6% of cars broke down entirely.Of faults during this period, none were common – though there were a few more issues with the battery (affecting 5% of owners) than we’d usually expect in a car aged less than four years old.Overall, the C3 is likely to provide hassle-free motoring, with few faults worthy of special mention. If you’ve got a slightly less youthful model, our guide to the most reliable car brands reveals how Citroen performs as a brand for older cars. How comfortable and spacious is it?
