During the MG 3’s Euro NCAP crash test in 2025, the car’s driver-seat seat-latching mechanism failed and the driver’s seat twisted forward, which poses a risk of injury. Euro NCAP says this is the first time a failure of this nature has occurred since it started testing cars in 1997.

While Euro NCAP, the UK’s DVSA and MG investigate and mitigate the issue, we are marking this car as a Don’t Buy as we do not have sufficient reassurance that this failure won't happen again in the real world and there are other, similar cars that perform well in safety tests overall.
