Bank account prize draws: could you win thousands just for being a customer?

Enjoy the thrill of a flutter? Santander is giving current account customers the chance to win up to £250,000 in its monthly prize draw.

There are 353 prizes worth between £100 and £25,000 up for grabs each month between now and the end of the year. And in January, one lucky customer will hit a huge £250,000 jackpot.

Here, Which? digs into the details and explains how it compares with other prize-draw current accounts.

How much could you win?

Santander's new competition launched on 10 August, and current customers will be able to win a share of £100,000 every month. The high street bank will also run a mega prize draw in January 2027, giving one lucky customer a bumper £250,000.

Monthly draws take place at the end of the month, with prizes paid by the end of the following month.

How to enter

You can earn up to three entries a month. To take part, you must be aged 18 or over, live in the UK, have a Santander personal current account and opt in online, in branch, by phone or through the Santander app.

Once you've opted in, you can earn entries in three ways:

• Keep at least £100 in your Santander current account on the last day of the month to get one entry.
• Keep at least £100 in a Santander savings account on the last day of the month to get another entry. That includes its market-leading regular saver, which pays 8% AER.
• Make a purchase of any amount using a Santander credit card during the month to get a third entry. Santander's Rewards Credit Card currently offers 3% cashback on eating out, takeaway and everyday travel spend for the first 12 months. 

Have all three? You could have three chances to win each month. Plus, every monthly entry you make between now and December counts towards the £250,000 jackpot. 

Winners will be contacted by email and, where possible, via mobile banking, with prizes paid into their Santander personal current account. Winners of the £10,000 and £25,000 prizes will also receive a phone call.

Other current account prize draws 

Santander isn’t the only provider to offer a lottery-style current account, so take a look at other options to see if they are a better fit.

Here are a few alternative draws you can enter by opening a current account:

Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland 

Lloyds Banking Group is running three different prize draws, but which ones you can enter depends on the account you hold.

Lloyds and Halifax Super Prize Draw:

• Five customers win £10,000, and 200 will win £1,000 in August, September and October. A final draw is held in November, with a £1m jackpot and five £50,000 prizes up for grabs. 
• To qualify, you must be aged 18 or over, a UK resident and hold a current or savings account with Lloyds or Halifax.
• You’ll automatically get one entry per draw. You can earn one extra entry for every £10,000 held across accounts, capped at 25 entries per draw. 
• You can get another entry for the November draw by activating the offer in the banking app's Rewards section by 30 October 2026.

 Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland Payday Prize Draw 

This is a separate monthly draw open to eligible current account customers with Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland.

• 50 customers win £2,026 each month.
• To qualify, you need at least £1,000 paid into your current account as salary, pension or benefits during the month.
• You must opt in each month through the app or online banking.
• You get one entry for each month you meet the conditions.

Lloyds student prize draw:

This is a one-off draw for Lloyds student current account customers, rather than a monthly competition.

• Five customers with a Lloyds student current account have a chance to win £9,790 every month from now until October.
• To enter the draw, log in to your mobile banking app or online and activate the offer in the Rewards section. You can only enter the draw once. 
• Winners will be selected at random within seven days of the promotional period ending. If you're one of the five winners, you'll be contact via email.

Monzo's Double Payday

This prize draw kicked off in December 2025, with the bank doubling the salaries of 10 lucky current account customers every month.

• 10 customers will have their take-home salary doubled each month tax-free, with winnings capped at £10,000.
• To qualify, your weekly or monthly salary must be paid by Bacs directly into your individual or joint Monzo current account.
• Eligible salary payments must be between £300 and £20,000.
• Your salary must arrive by the last day of the calendar month to be eligible for the following month's draw.
• Eligible customers are automatically entered, unless they opt out.

For example, if your monthly take-home pay was £2,500 and you won, Monzo would add another £2,500 to your account, tax-free.

Revolut's Salary Draw

Revolut is also running a monthly salary prize draw from July until the end of December 2026.

• Five customers win £10,000 each month.
• To qualify, you must be aged 18 or over, live in the UK and have an active Revolut personal account.
• You must opt in to the promotion and have at least £1,500 in qualifying salary payments paid into your account each month.
• The money must come from a non-Revolut bank account or Revolut Business account that isn't held in your name.
• Transfers between your own accounts, person-to-person transfers and manual top-ups don't count.
