A Blu-ray player can cost anything from £50 to £500, but as our testing has shown, price isn't a reliable indicator when it comes to quality.

We've found that some expensive models are a let down when it comes to picture quality, while certain cheaper models have blown us away with their abilities. There's no way to know which will be which without buying them and using them. That's why we've picked out seven Blu-ray players that offer superb picture quality, all for under £100.

This Blu-ray player is a solid conventional model, and certainly one worth considering. It delivers pretty good picture and sound quality and comes with heaps of smart features including Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Do bear in mind that you are missing out on being able to play 4K Ultra HD discs with this model and for a bit more, you can get that feature with others in this table.

Yet another blu-ray player from this brand, this model is average across the board but is the perfect choice if you don't want to spend a fortune. It stands out the most for the features it comes with and how easy it is to use but still does well enough for its picture and sound quality.

This Blu-ray player isn't the worst model we've ever seen. But it's pretty unimpressive and you'll be far happier if you spend your money on a better device. Picture quality when watching DVDs is blurry and Blu-rays look dull. Sound quality could be better too while the lack of wi-fi connectivity means you'll have to plug the player in via an ethernet connection if you want to use any of the internet streaming features.
