If you're buying a new mattress, it should be from a brand you can trust. We've surveyed 5,830 Which? members about their mattresses to compile our definitive guide to the best and worst mattress brands.

We have results for 25 mattress brands, including key high street brands, such as Dreams, Ikea, John Lewis and Silentnight, as well as emerging online-only brands including Emma, Eve and Simba.

Mattress brands compared

Our survey revealed that there's a big difference in customer score between the best and worst brands – the top brand scored 88% for customer satisfaction, while the worst scored just 63%. And while the most comfortable mattress brand was rated the maximum five stars, some brands only got a two-star comfort rating.

As well as overall customer satisfaction score and comfort rating, each mattress brand is rated for value for money, how well they match their description and whether they met peoples' overall expectations.

How we researched mattress brands

In April 2019 we asked 5,830 Which? members who had bought a mattress in the past 10 years to tell us about their experiences. To work out customer scores for mattress brands, we asked what brand of mattress members owned, whether they were satisfied with it and whether they'd recommend it to a friend.

We also asked about where they had bought their last mattress and how satisfied they were with the experience of buying from the retailer, to help you identify the best mattress shops to buy from. As well as an overall score, we also rated quality of advice offered and how easy it was to arrange delivery.

If you're not yet a member, join Which? today to find out everything you need to know about buying the best mattress and secure a good night's sleep for years to come.
