Fairy has reformulated its Fairy Platinum washing-up liquid – so Which? put it to the test on grease-laden dishes to see just how long lasting and effective the new version is.
The festive season is on the way and one thing is certain – Christmas creates a lot of dirty dishes. If you don’t own a dishwasher, you could be facing piles of grimy pans and greasy baking trays, so a fantastic washing-up liquid will make the job much easier.
We’ve tested the latest version of Fairy Platinum washing-up liquid to see if it is up to the festive challenge. At £1.70 for a 433ml bottle, Fairy Platinum is far pricier than supermarket own-label washing-up liquids , but Fairy washing-up liquids are still the most popular choice in the UK. Is paying more for Fairy worth it?

Does Fairy last longer?
Fairy washing-up liquid recently hit the headlines after the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) rejected a complaint against the brand’s claim to last ‘twice as long’ as its main competitor.
Unilever, the maker of Persil washing-up liquid had complained to the ASA after Fairy manufacturer Procter & Gamble launched its ‘twice as long’ campaign, comparing Fairy Liquid to the ‘next-best selling brand’.
However, Procter & Gamble was able to provide enough evidence from tests to support the claim that Fairy Liquid lasts at least twice as long as Persil, and so the ASA ruled in Fairy’s favour.
Our latest washing-up liquid test results reveal just how many plates you can wash with a bottle of Fairy Platinum. Read our review to find out if it can beat the top-scoring own-brand washing up liquid, which can wash 27 small plates with just one squirt.
Best of the supermarket brands
We revealed the results from our last round of washing-up liquid tests back in August. Those tests uncovered two great-value supermarket Best Buys that tackled grease with ease.
Fairy, one of the biggest washing-up liquid brands, was missing from those tests because its formula has recently changed and we were not able to get hold of the new version in time.
